CD Data Recovery Tools

Most people think that recovering lost data from a CD is a difficult, if not impossible, task. Well, these people are wrong. CD data recovery is the art of recovering data that has been lost, whether these are music files, pictures, important documents or family videos. Now losing data doesn’t have to be the end of the world, because with CD data recovery, the lost bits of information can be completely recovered in most cases.

Why did you lose your data?

Nowadays, there are many ways to backup the information we have on our hard drives. We can choose from CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD. The problem is when we get the information stored on the backups. There are many reasons why data stored on a CD can be lost:

  • Virus attacks
  • Lost drive letters
  • Lost partitions
  • Configuration errors
  • Drive failures

Even though all these problems can make it very difficult to recover our data, there are a variety of cheap data recovery tools than can help us on this task. There are 2 well known programs recommended by most users:

“Multi Data Rescue”. This software is used by many experts to recover the lost data from CDs. Multi Data Rescue is a effective data recovery software for damaged, scratched or defective CD and DVD discs and Digital Media: removable disks, USB disks, digital cameras, memory cards, etc. It easily recovers unreadable, deleted or corrupted files. It runs on Windows and is considered to be very user friendly. There is a program that is an offshoot of “Multi Data Rescue” that is specifically designed to recover data from DVDs, but the original program also does the trick.

“Bad Copy Pro”. This software can recover corrupted or lost data in minutes. The last version, 3.80, allows users to recover lost data from documents, images, and even applications. You can download the trial version from the author’s website or buy the complete version for a low price. “Bad Copy Pro” can effectively recover and rescue corrupted or lost data from damaged, unreadable, or defective disks, and it doesn’t overwrite the files on the CD, which often can cause problems.

There are many other programs available in the market besides these two programs. You can find programs that run on Linux, Windows or Mac; freeware, shareware and paid programs are also available. The point is that there is always something available to put the wring things right. A Google query on this topic will probably give you hundreds of results, so it is up to you to decide for a program that suits your needs and recovers as soon as possible those important documents you thought were lost forever.
